Why Biothane®

Our leashes are made from genuine Biothane®, a waterproof, odor-resistant coated webbing that combines the flexibility and feel of leather with far greater strength and weather resistance.

Unlike leather or nylon, Biothane does not absorb water, mud, or odors. It stays soft in cold temperatures, won’t crack or stretch, and cleans up easily with soap and water.

It’s a material chosen not only for how well it performs, but for how good it continues to look over time. Unlike nylon, Biothane maintains its rich, saturated color instead of fading with use and sun exposure.

Hardware That Puts Safety First

We use a heavy-duty, low-lead rustproof solid brass swivel bolt snap and  D-ring from Buckleguy.

After years of testing different hardware — including trigger (scissor) snaps — we made a clear decision to stop using them altogether. We’ve seen firsthand how trigger snaps can be forced open under certain angles of pull.

Bolt snaps have an enclosed spring mechanism that is far less likely to release unintentionally, even when a leash twists, pulls, or is put under sudden pressure.

It’s a detail most people don’t notice at first — but it’s one that matters every time you clip it on and head out the door.

Thoughtful, Real-World Design

Each leash includes a sturdy D-ring at the handle.

You can clip a keychain or waste-bag holder to it, or — when your dog is off-leash — clip the bolt snap to the handle and wear the leash over your shoulder instead of carrying it in your hand.

It’s a small design detail that makes everyday life with a dog noticeably easier.
